2026 has been so full of blessings already and it feels like it has only just begun! I am SO pumped to see what God has prepared in His story for us this year! I also started this year out with a really GREAT Amazon Test – FOR FREE!!!!
I have been spying this Pet Safe Scoop Free, Self-Cleaning Litter Box for the longest time, but continued to talk myself out of it because I don’t want Smart Devices in my home. So much so, that I shocked my original-to-the-1940s-home copper wire back to life and installed a vintage 1986 landline:

I cannot even tell you the amount of people who offered to buy me a cell phone over the last few years. I continually thanked them and explained that my husband and I share a cell phone, not because we cannot afford to have our own, but because neither of us want one of our own. I mean, why CHOOSE to have an ugly, boring rectangle that causes both physical and mental damage (no telling how much worse as they switch to 6G, as if 5G wasn’t bad enough), causes intense addictions & depression, and that the government uses to spy on us when I could have an adorable Teddy Bear that plays the tune of “It’s A Small World” every time it rings instead?! Plus, those special and no-longer-existent ’90s moments of watching my kids run to the phone shouting “my turn!” to answer it, makes it even more worth it to me.

Anyway, I ended up talking myself into bringing this one into our home for a few reasons:
- We are still trying for a baby & know that is is unsafe for pregnant women to encounter kitty litter. While we were pregnant for a short time last year (that sadly resulted in a miscarriage), litter become a major stressor me for, which leads me to point 2.
- Eliminate stress. Taking care of litter for multiple cats is already very stressful, without a pregnancy, and I felt like no matter how hard I worked at it, I could never keep up. As soon as I scooped, the next one came in. If I wasn’t fast enough for them, they’d find a spot on the floor to use. It got to the point where I highly considered re-homing for sanity and sanitation reasons, but I love my kitties too much to do that to them and don’t believe they deserve to be punished for my choice to take them on, and for my inability to keep up quickly enough for them. I had to find a realistic solution that was right for everybody.
- The smell. I tried changing litters so many times (and eventually did find one that I stuck with – Worlds Best), I tried litter box deodorants, I used essential oils and incense, I kept my windows open. Eventually was so desperate I even turned to Febreeze 🤮, something I swore would never be found in my home again! Nothing would eliminate the smell of 3 cats, especially 1 that just refuses to cover his poo . It was again, a HUGE stressor for me.

The set up was incredibly easy, even for an unskilled-in-tech person like myself. It has an app that you can download to your phone and/or tablet to work the box from, but I am not at all interested in that option and chose against that. It still works perfectly fine without connecting to your phone, but if being notified every time your cat uses the bathroom is your thing, you have the option to set that up. I imagine it could be useful for training kittens or sick cats that may require extra monitoring. I could also see it being useful for pet parents that travel or spend a significant amount of time out of the home each day.
It comes with 2 disposable deodorant inserts, a mat, and a roll of trash bags. I will have to keep up with the cost of trash bags and deodorants, but those are about $15 each. The trash bags will last a couple months, the deodorants I will probably need to replace every other month (2 per pack).

It is compatible with any litter, so you aren’t locked into only buying their specific brand of litter – which has been a requirement of some self-scooping boxes I have seen in the past. After we settled on Worlds Best, I did not want to use anything else. It works GREAT with this machine especially because over time, it breaks down to a sandy, powdery material rather than becoming clumpy and disgusting. The non-clumpiness of the Worlds Best Litter keeps it from getting stuck in the machine, which I had heard happens with more widely-available brands like Tidy Cats. It also has a natural smell to it and doesn’t turn into an overwhelming aroma of ammonia at any point between changes.

The cats took to it right away and were not afraid. They seem so much less stressed out as well, as I can tell the previous litter situation was stressing them out as much as it was for me. There hasn’t been a single “accident” outside of the box since we switched to this machine and the smell has been almost entirely eliminated from my home.
When they step on/in it a little paw sensor goes off, and stops the machine in it’s place so that your kitty won’t get hurt.

When the trash can is full, another sensor goes on letting you know that it is time to empty. It is advertised for 2 weeks, but with 3 cats, it is more accurately a few days to a week before it fills. For one cat, it will most likely go close to the full 2 weeks before needing emptied. When it is full, you just slide out the tray, grab the bag out and put a new one in – easy peasy & completely mess free!
I am SO glad that this was offered through Amazon testing because it has significantly helped to make all of our lives easier!! There is no way I would have allowed myself to make that big of a selfish purchase for convenience purposes, but now that I have it – I would say it is worth every single penny and I would happily make the same purchase knowing what I do now! It has been life changing for not only me, but for my kitties, and that makes my heart so happy! I no longer feel like I am completely overwhelmed & failing as a cat mom, and no longer have to be constantly embarrassed by the smell of my home.
